Update: September 1, 2023

September 1, 2023

Dear PGCPS Community:

Thank you for a successful first week of school. I look forward to the great things this school year has in store and your continued partnership for student success.

I want to provide additional information about next steps from the August 14, 2023 ransomware event that impacted the district’s network and systems, similar to those recently experienced by several school districts nationwide.  Next week, PGCPS staff will  be sent information on how to enroll in free credit morning and identity protection services through Experian IdentityWorksSM for 12 months.  Students and families will receive the same information shortly thereafter.  We strongly encourage all PGCPS network users to take identity protection measures.   Visit the PGCPS website for information on steps you can take now to protect your identity.

While we have engaged cybersecurity and forensics specialists to conduct a full investigation of the incident, we understand the cyber attack may result in unauthorized disclosure of personal information of PGCPS users.  We are working diligently to confirm the extent of information that was impacted by this incident, and we will move quickly to provide direct notice to those who are impacted once this determination is made.  Our Division of Information Technology will follow up with impacted users as the investigation continues.  Please continue to refer to pgcps.org for additional information.

Thank you.
