What's happening in our classrooms
2008-09

See what happened last year

There's more to school than...

class work,

eating lunch,

and standing in line.

See what else we're doing at Tulip Grove

November 21, 2008With the whole school watching, State Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Nancy Grasmick, and Milken representative, Dr. Jane Foley, presented a surprised Ms. Landefeld with the Milken award.  Read the articles in the Bowie Blade-News and the Bowie Star, and see more pictures on the County web site.

November 17, 2008 -- Big Yellow Dog Day!  Mr. B said if we met our fundraising goal, he'd come to school dressed as a dog.  And we did, and he did!  A big, yellow dog greets students on their way to class on Monday, November 17.

Visitors were surprised to see who was in the front office that day.

Students gave the dog hugs,

or handshakes as they entered the building that morning.

November 12, 2008 -- School nurse, Mrs. Billingsley, arranged for the mobile dentist to visit.  Many children took advantage of the opportunity.  They bring everything they need ...

An x-ray machine,

and a chair.

So they can clean your teeth,

And you even leave with a brand-new toothbrush!

October 29, 2008 -- Every Wednesday, Bowie State University students come to conduct a reading clinic with our younger students.

October 28.  The PTA sponsors our annual Fall Festival

Lots of people wear a costume

Even the stuffed animals in the hall...

Doors are decorated in the hallways,

As the students can trick or treat at school

Everybody tries to win a cake in the cakewalk

Carnival games in the multi-purpose room are fun!

October 1, 2008 -- Courtyard cleanup, sponsored by the Student Government Association.

Parents (with young helpers) raked and cleaned.

SGA students planted pansies,

and chrysanthemums.

September 25, 2008 -- Our PTA sponsors the ice cream social.

Students and staff line up for ice-cream.

Then sit down with their friends to enjoy!

Former students enjoy coming back to help.

September 25, 2008 -- Bus riders practice emergency procedures.

September 25, 2008 -- A month after school started, our patrols have their morning routines down.

Arriving early, they collect the cones, and place them outside.

Flags are raised.

As all students gather on the plaza, patrols keep an eye out for safety.

August 25, 2008.  It's the first day of the 2008-09 school year!

Mr. Baudoin made sure the school was ship-shape and ready for kids, and stands ready to welcome everyone under our festive balloon arch.

Parents and big sisters walk new students to school.

Most students walk to school, but some arrive on the bus every morning.

Mr. B chats with parents and students.

Everyone gathers on the front plaza before school.

The bell rings, and parents and teachers walk the students to the classrooms.

First graders and kindergartners look for their classrooms, helped by their parents and siblings.

PGCPS Superintendent, Dr. Deasy, visited Tulip Grove, talking with many of the children and teachers.  Here he is with Mrs. Roth's third grade class.

Dr. Deasy with Ms. Hall and Ms. Landefeld.

July 10, 2008.

Our cafeteria walls will no longer be plain white!  What else will be on them?

July 9, 2008.  There's lots to do over the summer to get ready for the new year.

Every classroom is spotless before the summer ends.  All the furniture is taken out, the shelves washed, the floors polished.
