Compensation and Classification is responsible for developing compensation programs, policies and procedures that meet the needs of Prince George's County Public Schools. Compensation and Classification also provides accurate and timely compensation and classification information and services to customers. Our department services all employees as well as external representatives.
Specifically, the department provides system-wide implementation and administration of all negotiated and Board of Education approved salary changes to include cost of living increases, step increases, pay table restructuring, stipends, differentials, and emoluments. The department is responsible for updating and maintaining all pay tables and classification tables. Compensation and Classification is the repository for over 700 job descriptions; responsible for conducting individual desk audits; classification audits; pay grade analysis and required pay changes; responding to salary and classification inquiries; processing of temporary and second assignment positions; and completing all surveys and comparisons for both internal and external customers.
