How do I register my child at Bowie High School?

All information regarding registration can be found on the PGCPS Register for School website.

Do I need a transcript to enroll my child at Bowie High School? 

While a report card can be used for enrollment purposes, a transcript is strongly recommended as it will assist your counselor in ensuring you are scheduled correctly for classes.

Once my child is enrolled when will they receive their schedule?

School counselors are currently on summer break.  They return from break on August 19th and will begin scheduling newly enrolled students the week of August 22nd - August 26th.  Schedules will be created in the order in which the student is registered.  They will be viewable in SchoolMax, as well as they will receive a paper copy of their schedule on the first day of school.

How will my child’s classes be selected?

School counselor’s will review your child’s transcript (preferred) or report card to determine what classes they must take this upcoming school year to satisfy graduation requirements.  Once that is determined, they will review what classes are available during the periods they are not scheduled for a graduation requirement class and schedule your child accordingly.  If needed, the School Counselor will contact you directly (via phone or email) to discuss elective selections.  Due to this, please ensure your email address is provided at the time of registration.

What if my child does not want the classes they are enrolled in?

After the first day of school, your child will have the opportunity to complete a “Schedule Change Request Form”.  They will be able to make a request to change their class(es).  Please note, changes are not guaranteed, however considered based on graduation requirements and class(es) availability.

Can I schedule a meeting with my child’s School Counselor during the Summer?

Unfortunately not; school counselors are on summer break and do not return to their offices until Friday, August 19th. After August 19th, School Counselors will be available to answer any questions you may have. As we move closer to that date, the updated School Counselor caseload breakdown and contact information will be available on our Bowie HS School Counseling website.

How does my child obtain a Chromebook for school?

That information will be forthcoming from Bowie High School Administration. Please ensure you are paying attention to announcements on the Bowie High School’s Website.
