Kettering MS authorizes and encourages school uniforms, however uniforms are not mandatory for students.
Uniform Guidelines
Tops
6th Grade
White Polo-long or short sleeved
7th Grade
Light Blue Polo-long or short sleeved
8th Grade
Navy Blue Polo-long or short sleeved
Bottoms
Navy Blue
Head
- Headdresses can be worn indoors for religious or health reasons only. (This includes hoods and ski masks. They must not be worn inside the school.)**
Shirts and Blouses
- While sweatshirts with hoods (hoodies) are permitted, hoods may not be worn on the head within the building.
- Shirts and blouses should be continuous from neckline to waist. The entire mid-section should not show. No tank tops and muscle shirts.
- No clothing with vulgar language, obscene pictures, weapons, drugs/alcohol or drug paraphernalia and tobacco products.
- No identifiable gang/crew clothing or paraphernalia. No see-through clothing.
Skirts, Dresses & Shorts
- Skirts, dresses, shorts, and spandex skirts should be approximately six (6) inches below the buttocks, or no shorter than fingertip level.
Pants
- Pants should be secured at waist: no sagging below waist to expose undergarments.
- Tights, stretch pants, leggings, and spandex body suits must be worn with clothing long enough to cover buttocks.
Coats
- No heavy coats may be worn inside the building. They must be placed in the student's locker.
- Lightweight jackets (ie. windbreakers, jean jackets, and fleece) are permitted.
Shoes
- Shoes must be worn at all times.
Bookbags
- Only CLEAR BOOKBAGS will be permitted in Kettering Middle School.
** If students do not abide by the rules (i.e., wearing hoods within the building), students will no longer be permitted to wear these items to school.
