Meet Our Principal

Hello MPrincipal-Sharelle-Stagg.jpgagnolia Elementary School Family,

It is with excitement and great expectations that I introduce myself as the new Principal of Magnolia Elementary School. I am Sharelle Stagg - a loving daughter, supportive sister, proud auntie, consistent friend and lifelong learner.  This will be my 19th year serving Prince George’s County Public Schools.  Previously, I have served as a General Education Teacher, Special Education Teacher, Data Coach and most recently Assistant Principal.  While the roles have evolved, my sincere commitment to making all children feel seen and valued has not changed.  As someone who has always loved school and benefited greatly from the encouragement of educators, I firmly believe in the undeniable impact a positive school experience can have on one’s life.  I am a proud product of D.C Public Schools, earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Elementary Education from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) and a Master’s in Special Education from Bowie State University.  As your Principal, it will be my daily aim to ensure Magnolia is a place where children feel safe and cared for and academic growth and achievement is the norm.

In many ways, this will be a year of transition for us.  Not only will I be joining the Magnolia family but we will also welcome a new Assistant Principal, Ms. Jasmine Giddings, several new staff members as well as new students due to boundary changes.  Naturally, change brings a multitude of feelings - from uneasiness to nervousness to delight.  No matter where you fall on this continuum, know that it is ok and we will get through it together.  As a leader who values collaboration and elevating the voices of others, it is my intent to spend a great deal of time listening, observing and upholding the meaningful traditions that already exist.

From my initial transition interactions, it is evident I am joining a strong and deeply connected school family.  I look forward to getting to know the students, families, staff and community partners that make up Magnolia!   Please be on the lookout for a flier with information about a ‘Meet and Greet’ event that will take place in the coming weeks.  In the meantime, feel free to reach out to me via email at sharelle.stagg@pgcps.org.  Please be safe and continue to enjoy your summer!

Yours in Education,

Sharelle Stagg
