Principal Poole Retirement Letter

July 31, 2023

Dear Perrywood Families and Community Partners,

I have made the decision to retire from Prince George’s County Public Schools as principal of Perrywood Elementary School. I am sincerely honored to have served as principal at Perrywood Elementary School for the past 16 years. It has been a privilege to work alongside the hardworking and dedicated faculty and staff at Perrywood, their commitment to educating our students and their value of education is unsurpassed. Also, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to our parents and community partners who have supported and promoted our school. You all exemplify Perrywood’s Motto: “Hand In Hand. Together We CAN!”

I am proud of our outstanding academic achievement and parent engagement over the years. Perrywood Elementary School maintained its Maryland State Report Card 4 STAR rating over the last three years, in addition to our continuation and recognition of increasing academic achievement on Maryland State Assessments for the past 16 years. I am humbled by the tremendous parent participation in our monthly Family Literacy Circles. “We have averaged approximately 250 parents per month!” Your participation did not waiver even during the pandemic... virtual participation continued to be consistent!

I have taken great pleasure in seeing hundreds of children develop and flourish as confident, successful young people and I am very proud of the part I have played in making Perrywood Elementary School the outstanding and thriving school that it is today.

I am privileged to have worked with committed educators, involved parents, energetic community, and some of the most inquisitive and hardworking students in Prince George’s County Public Schools.

THANK YOU to everyone for the support that you have given me over the years.

Sincerest regards,
Carolyn Poole
