Allenwood
Elementary School is a Model Comprehensive School, which opened
in 1967. The
owner of this property was a person name Rowenetta Allen, who
was an Assistant Superintendent of Schools, in charge of elementary
education, in the 60's. A barn once stood where Allenwood
is now. Land records at the courthouse in Upper Marlboro states
that construction began on 1/16/67. The construction company
was Morrison & Bready, inc. The school open on October
30, 1967
and was called Allenwood Estate Elementary School until June
20, 1968.
The school is located in a community where we serve students
from Camp Springs and Temple Hills attendance area.
Allenwood Elementary School is a place where staff, parents, business
partners and the community collaborate to meet the challenge
in education for all children. We strongly believe that children
are a priority in every decision made about their valuable education
at Allenwood Elementary School. We articulate our school vision
and philosophy to all stakeholders in meeting the challenge
we now face in education for excellence for all students.
The staff and community of Allenwood Elementary School will
strive for academic and social achievements for all students.
As we prepare our students to be life-long learners, they
will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and work habits
that would enable them to be successful members of society.
