Text Box: I am so amazed every day when I hear how much our children are reading. Each student is enthusiastic and anxious to share what was read! Please make sure children, as part of their homework, are reading at least thirty minutes each evening, are filling in their book logs every day and bringing the signed logs to their teacher each week.
It looks like we will have Text Box: our first hundred thousand minute incentive treat this week. In order to meet our goal of a million minutes, we have to keep this pace of 100,000 minutes per month!
In addition to the whole school incentive, we had a drawing for books among the Rocket Reader Members. Loida Rosales (Ms. Rosen’s Class) and Belinda Enoch (Ms. Wooten’s Class) were the winText Box: ners this week. They each received a hard back, award winning book.

Text Box: At Allenwood, we are asking students to learn their grade level appropriate math facts in a specific amount of time. By the time a student reaches the third grade he/she should be able to do the 100 facts in five minutes. You can support this effort by practicing each eveText Box: ning with a timer, flash cards, concentration games or the computer. There are many games available to support the learning of the facts. Should you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.
