Text Box: Challenge: Come up with a rhyme for single digit math facts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication or division. Place it in my box outside my door along with the name of the song or rhythm that it should be recited to. The best one will be published in our next newsletter.

Text Box: Having difficulty remembering those basic math facts?
Instead of writing them over and over again, try putting a little rhyme into it. Studies have shown that when our brains connect things to patterns such as rhymes, it can be absorbed quicker and stored into your long term memory.
Don't believe me? Just think about it. Remember your favorite song from long ago? Can you still recite all the words? How about a cheer you did as a child?
It may take a little creativity but once you come up with a rhyme that works, use it. Then maybe recite it to the rhythm of your favorite song.
