April 2007                                                                                                                                                                                          Spring _______Summer Opportunities for Children and Families___________

You can look at this newsletter on the Beltsville Elementary School web-site so you can easily link up the resources.

Why it is good for your child to participate in group activities this summer?

Ø       Keeps the brain alert & shores up learning connections.  A working brain increases knowledge.

Ø       Allows your child to socialize with peers which can develop strong relational/social skills.  (How to get along with others, team building, and increase social connection-feeling part of a group).

Ø       Increase self-confidence through accomplishments.

Ø       Offer opportunities to consider new activities such as less video games to model building.

Ø       Allows you as parents to meet like minded parents.

Ø       Improves your child’s awareness of their community.

Ø       Increases your child’s abilities to give back and be more conscious of the environment.
