PUBLIC HEARING TO NAME NEW SCHOOL

The P.G. County Board of Ed Capital Improvement Program Committee will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 7PM to solicit names for the new Laurel-Beltsville Elem. School.  The meeting will be held in the cafeteria at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, 4545 Ammendale Rd., Beltsville  MD  All persons interested in speaking must register with the Office of the Board of Ed by 4:30PM the day of the meeting by calling 301/952-6308.

 

NASA GODDARD SUMMER OPPORTUNITY

SISTER (Summer Institute in Science, Technology, Engineering & Research) is a five day summer institute for the purpose of increasing awareness of and providing opportunities for middle school girls to explore non-traditional career fields with research scientists, mathematicians & engineers.  This is open to girls who will be in 7th grade in the 2008-09 academic year.  Additional information & an application (due April 1) are on the web page:  http://education.gsfc.nasa.gov/sister/.

BELTSVILLE CITIZENS ASSOCIATION MEETING

The new date for the Police District 6 (Beltsville) Community Forum is Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008 at 7:00PM.  The meeting will be held at Beltsville Elementary School in the multi-purpose room.  This is your opportunity to meet with Police Chief High and our new Major Dwayne Preston of the Beltsville station.

 

CREATIVE & PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAM

Applications & information on this program are in the main office.  Application deadline is March 12, 2008.

 

 

 

PUBLIC HEARINGS ON LAUREL/BELTSVILLE

AREA SCHOOL BOUNDARIES

There will be public hearings on March 4th at Dwight Eisenhower Middle School; and on March 5th at Beltsville Elementary, 7PM to discuss the two boundary proposals before the Board regarding the opening of the New Laurel-Beltsville School.  If you would like to speak at the hearing, please call the Region Office at 240-264-1700 before 4:00PM the day of the hearing you wish to speak at.  Beltsville Elem. will be affected.

 

MINDCORE@BELTSVILLE UPDATE

Mindcore was a huge success!  Thank you to everyone who helped out on Feb. 5th.  We have collected almost $5000 of the $8000 that was pledged.  Please remember to send in your pledge money if you haven’t already done so.  The books and recess equipment have been ordered.

 

MSA TESTING

Please do not schedule any appointments for your 3rd through 6th graders on the mornings of April 1, 2, 8, or 9th.  These are the MSA testing days.  Thank you.
