PE Teacher: Physical Education at CHES consists of 10 major unit themes. Each year the goals of the PE program are to provide a 2-3 minute warm-up, some strength and flexibility drills, a 10-15 minute aerobic practice session and end with a 2-3 minute rest and relaxation period. Students learning to use relaxation can be a life skill which they can take with them into middle school and high school and use throughout their lives. All students need some sort of physical exercise daily. The PE program should cross over into other areas such as physical therapy, music and recess. The culmination of the Physical Education year is Field Day. The Field Day experience at CHES is truly an unforgettable one. The students must traverse through 8 different games, skills or exercises. Competition is only among classmates and winning and losing is de-emphasized. The emphasis is on FUN! K-3 students enjoy a 1/2 day of racing, water games, obstacle courses, balloon games, relays, tug-of-war, etc... The students from grades 4-6 enjoy many similar games and events but finish the afternoon with a special water balloon toss with a partner, a kickball game, and graduating 6th graders face off against CHES staff members. All in all, a fun and exciting way to finish off a year of learning and exercising.
Our "Field Day" for the 2006-2007 school year will be displayed here when decided.
