Sponsor: Mr. Brian Sanders The instrumental music program is offered to students in grades five & six. Students need no previous instrumental experience to enroll. Lessons occur for one half-hour, twice a week as part of a pull out program. This means that lessons occur concurrently with the school day. Students are required to finish any class work they missed during their instrumental lesson. Students may choose to learn a variety of instruments: flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, violin, viola, or cello. The school doesn't have many instruments to loan, therefore, the instruments must be rented from a local music store, borrowed from a family member or friend, or purchased outright. Students are strongly encouraged to join in the 5th grade so they may have the opportunity of being in the advanced classes in 6th grade. Students are expected to practice at least 30 minutes each day six days a week. If they can make this commitment, they should realize a better return on their investment. Students receive a report card grade every quarter for instrumental music.
