Vocal Music:

The purpose of this program is to enhance the writing process through the use of musical activities.  Math is  included as we attempt to interrelate all subject areas across the board.

Through the use of graphic organizers and the writing process, we have written to inform and to persuade.  We have written stories related to music as well as essays expressing how we feel about certain topics.  The latter technique is used when we present our Holiday Program.

In math we have worked with fractions as we discussed duration of sound and time signatures.  We have made graphs and related them to musical concepts.

We have established a musical vocabulary list using it as a basis for a musical language promoting a means of communication and understanding of musical concepts.

We are learning that music is an important discipline which enhances other subject areas as well as giving us a more productive and fulfilling life.
