Hear ye, Hear ye, read all about it!!...

Dear parents and family members...

I would like to thank all of you for the help and support you gave Capitol Heights during the weeks and months we were preparing for MSA.  Although everyday is a preparation day, we really focus on doing well as we approach the assessment date each year.

Also, thanks to parents who helped during our final weeks of school, especially our promotional exercises.  This is a milestone in what we hope will be an exciting and rewarding educational experience.  Continue to support your children as we have during their tenure here.  We wish all of you well in middle school.

Thanks always for whatever you do to help your child and to help our school.

The priorities are:

bullet

Safety and Well-being of all students.  This involves buses; recess, at school, and walking to and from school.

bullet

Attendance - getting to school everyday on time and ready to learn.

bullet

Instruction - preparing students for daily instruction by the teacher, assisting with homework and special projects, and accessing students to technology (computer work).  Look for homework packets periodically, MSA practice sheets, and general homework.

bullet

Parent Involvement - Volunteering, working as a lunch and recess monitor, assisting with extra curricular activities, and joining the PTSA.  We always encourage parents to help out in whatever capacity that is most comfortable.

Please sign up with your child’s teacher.

Each month a newsletter will come home with your child.  Please read carefully and look for school information on the back.  Check website for a complete calendar

Important School Reminders:

  1. School begins at 9:15a.m. daily and ends at 3:25p.m.  Students are considered late after 9:15a.m.  Please don't pick your child up before 3:25p.m. unless there's a Doctor's appointment or family emergency.    Please support us in this effort and help your child become a better student.

  2. Please adhere to our parking, pick-up, and drop-off regulations for the safety of all.  No one is to drive in the bus circle between the hours of 8:40-9:40 in the morning and 3:00-4:00 in the afternoon.  If you are dropping off or picking up students, please use the parking lot on the right side by the gym as you enter the school grounds.  Also, we ask that you not drop  students off on the street in front of the school.  We want all of our students to be safe and to practice safety measures.   Please update addresses ASAP!

  3. All parents, guardians, relatives, and other visitors must come to the front office and sign in upon arrival.  Persons other than their parents picking up Students, must be listed on the family card, and must show some form of ID.  We ask that you not go to the classrooms without checking in at the office first.

  4. Lastly, please sign up as a classroom or school volunteer with your child's teacher.
