Soar to read with (RIF) Reading is Fundamental.  More than 100 children in grades K-3 and volunteers will be involved in Capitol Heights Elementary School's second Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) program.  This festive celebration will include a Reading Motivational Activity and  THREE RIF BOOK DISTRIBUTIONS, where your child will choose new books (9) to keep at no cost to you.

Studies show that children who read often read well.  READING IS FUNDAMENTAL motivates America’s children to read through initiatives like the “Louie & Player,” which will feature fun-filled reading motivational activities and books that research shows kids like.

READING IS FUNDAMENTAL, INC. (RIF) develops and delivers children’s and family literacy programs that help prepare young children for reading and motivate school-age children to read regularly.  Through a national grassroots network, 1,440,000 volunteers are expected by the end of 2006.  RIF programs will provide new, free books and other essential literacy resources to more than 5 million children.  By the end of 2006, RIF will have placed more than 800 million books in the hands, homes, and hearts of America’s children.
