School Supply List  2006-2007:

Dear Kindergarten Parents,

WELCOME TO DEERFIELD RUN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!!  The first day of school this year will be August 21.  We will be having an open house for our parents on Thursday, August 17, 2006 , from 12 noon to 1 p.m.   This will give us an opportunity to introduce ourselves and go over some of our plans and programs for the upcoming school year.  Although your child will be given their teacher assignment at this time, there is always the possibility that there could be a change during the first month of school.  These changes are not unusual as enrollment numbers fluctuate greatly during the first weeks of school.

On the first day of school, all kindergarten students should assemble in the school cafeteria.  School hours for students are from 7:45 a.m. to 1:55 p.m.   It is important that a NAME TAG BE PLACED ON EACH CHILD FOR THE FIRST MONTH OF SCHOOL WITH THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:

CHILD’S NAME

ADDRESS

TELEPHONE NUMBER

INDICATE BUS OR WALKER

Please be sure the teacher and the office staff are aware of where your child is to report after school so that bus arrangements can be made.  Make sure that your emergency forms have correct and current information at all times so that we can contact you when necessary.  Remember, no one other than the parents will be able to pick your child up from school for any reason unless their name is indicated on the child’s family card or we receive written notification.

Parents need to be aware that all kindergarten students must meet the immunization requirements mandated by the State of Maryland in order to attend school.  If you have been notified that your child needs additional immunization shots or boosters, you must bring written proof from the doctor or clinic before your child can come to school.  Also, a physical examination by a doctor needs to be completed within 6 months after entry into school.  Forms to be filled out by the doctor are available in the school office.

Please see the supply list on the reverse of this page.  On occasion, we will ask parents to provide a snack to be shared by all the children in the class.

If you have questions or concerns, do not hesitate to call our school office at   301-497-3610 or you can call 301-483-7416 to leave a message for a kindergarten teacher.  HAVE A WONDERFUL YEAR!!

Dear Parents,

Welcome to second grade.  We are looking forward to working with you and your child during the 2006-07 school year.

We request that all students in the Orange Pod bring in $5.00.  This will cover for the entire year, the cost of crayons, glue, scissors and pencils, which we have purchased.  These supplies will be kept in plastic boxes on the tables, available for students at all times.  No student is to bring a school box with these items.  We have found this system of shared school supplies to be in everyone’s best interest.  This fee will also cover the cost of food items for the two school parties.  (Dec. & Feb.)

In addition the following supplies are needed:

·        Tote bags - Many children have found it helpful to have a small book bag for transporting books and papers to and from school.

·        Pocket folders  - This is helpful in taking graded papers home and homework papers back to school.  PLEASE, NO TRAPPER KEEPERS OR THREE-RING BINDERS.

·        3 Composition books

·        1 box of tissues

·        2 bottles of liquid hand soap

If you have any questions concerning the supply list or any other concerns please feel free to call us at (301) 483-7412.

We are all looking forward to an exciting and productive school year.

                                                                             Sincerely,
