Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are extremely pleased to welcome you and your child to the fourth grade! We look forward to a very exciting and rewarding academic year.  We hope that your child's summer vacation was pleasant and stimulating for you both.  As the students begin this school, we need to discuss ways to help them receive the maximum positive experience from his/her daily school attendance.  Together we can plan ways of helping your child to succeed.

In order to provide our students with the excellent educational climate they deserve, we will utilize the following Classroom Discipline Plan at all times.  This plan will ensure that your child is always on time, on target and on task.  Following is a list of classroom rules along with the rewards and consequences.  Please review them at home with your child.

RULES

1} Follow directions the first time they are given.

2} Come to class prepared to learn.

3} Respect yourself as well as others.

4} Raise your hand before speaking or leaving your seat.

5} Complete all assignments correctly and on time.

REWARDS

1} Verbal Praise

2} Stickers

3} Incentive Points

4} A positive phone call/note home

5} Lunch with the Teacher.

CONSEQUENCES

1} Verbal warning

2} 5-minute reflection time in class

3} Phone call home/conference with teacher

4} Before/After-school detention

5} Severe clause: sent immediately to principal

As a fourth grade team, we strongly believe that having the best education is key to a successful future.  We must ensure this by making certain that all students conduct themselves appropriately, because every student has the right to be educated in an environment that is conducive to learning.

Your child has reviewed this plan in class, and we would appreciate it if you would discuss it with him/her. If you have questions, comments, or concerns, please fell free to contact us at school (301) 817-0484, write a note, or visit the school before or after school hours.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and parental support.
