Dear Parent:

Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year. We hope the summer has been pleasant and that you and your child are excited about the start of a new school year. As we begin this year, we wanted to discuss way of helping your child get the maximum from his/her daily school attendance. Together, we can plan ways of helping them succeed. Below we have listed some need to know facts about 3rd grade.

Please make sure your child begins each day well rested and in a good frame of mind.

Encourage your child to come to school prepared with his or her tools. Listed below are the required supplies each 3rd grader will need.

Homework will be assigned nightly. Please check with your child to ensure that homework is completed and returned to school.

Every student has been assigned a planner. The planner lists homework assignments as well as notes from the teacher. The planner may also contain a behavior grade for the day. The rubric code is listed below. We ask that you review the planner daily and sign that you have seen it.

Supply List Behavior Rubric

4 – Student followed the rules and had a successful day.

3 – Student followed the rules most of the time.

2/1 – Student seldom followed the rules and needed correction.

0 – Student required repeated discipline or had to be removed from the classroom.

In order to provide students with the excellent school climate they deserve, we utilize the following Classroom Discipline Plan at all times. Please review it with your child.
