Mr. McNamara's ClassAP Government & Politics This course is designed to give an analytical perspective on government and
politics in the United States. It includes both the study of general concepts
used to interpret U.S. politics and the analysis of specific examples. The
course also requires familiarity with the various institutions, groups, beliefs,
and ideas that constitute U.S. politics. The purpose of this class is to provide students with knowledge about the
importance of government as an institution necessary to a civil society. We
begin by examining the relevance of government to our daily lives, look at
various forms of government, and then look at the details of our own branches of
