Throughout the United
States today, school systems are addressing the growing public demand
for accountability and excellence. A majority of states now have adopted
some form of state-wide educational standards; in turn, these states are
all requiring some form of accountability-based testing of students to
monitor their achievement of identified standards.
In the Prince
George's County Public Schools--like all Maryland districts--two major
assessment initiatives guide and inform the accountability process:
i.e., the Maryland School Assessments and the
State High School Assessments, based upon new high school standards
called the Core Learning Goals.
This site is
under construction to provide the latest and most up-to-date information
about these assessment initiatives.
