The Core Learning Goals and Skills for Success:
State Standards for High School Accountability

Curriculum and instruction at the high school level across the state of Maryland are guided by a set of standards and learning expectations in the Core Learning Goals and Skills for Success. Successful preparation for the new state high school assessments requires that all staff members understand the instructional implications of the Core Learning Goals in English, mathematics, science, and social studies. In addition, the entire staff should review and implement the Skills for Success, entry-level workplace competencies identified by the Maryland Business Roundtable and state educators as vital for students' success in the workplace.
