The
School Improvement Process for Prince George's County Public Schools is
a comprehensive approach to achieving excellence and
equity within each school and throughout the school
system. The process is based upon the Effective Schools Research
and has been extended to include School-Based Management
and elements of the Comer School Development Program. As
part of the Maryland School Performance Program (MSPP),the
Maryland State Department of Education now requires each school system
to implement a School Improvement Process.
Because school
improvement is an ongoing and recursive process, each school's
long-range School Improvement Plan must be reviewed annually, and
appropriate adjustments or additions made to ensure that the goals and
objectives included in the plan address current needs of the school. The
Maryland School Performance Program requires that School Improvement
Plans include action to be taken to improve student performance in all
MSPP data-based areas in which the school has not met standards. This
site focuses upon how schools can address the new State High School
Assessment Program within the context of their overall school
improvement planning process.
