Maryland School Performance
Assessment Program
(MSPAP)

Introduction:

The Maryland School Performance Assessment Program (MSPAP) measures students' ability to demonstrate mastery of Maryland's stated learning outcomes and apply higher order thinking skills in the areas of science, social studies, mathematics, reading, and language arts. Presently administered in grades 3, 5, and 8, MSPAP requires students to complete a series of challenging integrated, performance-based assessment tasks. Student responses are scored holistically using a variety of rubrics, rules, and keys.
