Here are some staff development ideas to assist staff in facilitating meaningful, purposeful, and ongoing parent and community outreach related to MSPAP.

Provide opportunities for parents to work with school staff in the school improvement planning process to understand and engage in discussions around MSPAP and related assessment issues. Ensure that appropriate staff development has occurred so that staff can maximize their work with parent/community outreach.
Offer training opportunities to work with staff in developing ways to communicate and publicize information regarding MSPAP and how assessment data are used in the school's instructional planning process.
Offer professional development opportunities in comprehensive reform models, such as the Comer School Development Program. Involve Comer School Development Program staff in assisting staff to generate operational procedures involving such areas as the following: parents, students, and community members with staff in School Planning and Management Teams, Parent Teams, and Student Support Services Teams.
Provide staff development to assist all staff in understanding and applying the opportunities inherent in cross-institutional partnerships. For example, significant training opportunities can focus upon the K-16 continuum, involving parents, community members, and staff in partnerships with local colleges and universities.
