A Checklist for Schools
Involved in MSPAP Preparation

 

School staffs engaged in MSPAP preparation may wish to use the following rating scale to evaluate the extent to which they are currently using the strategies, processes, and principles identified through this research process:

5 = Highly Evident 4 = Evident 3 = Somewhat Evident 2 = Minimally Evident 1 = Absent

_____1. A concerted and ongoing commitment is evident to ensure that all our staff understand MSPAP, receive
              training in instructional modifications necessary to help students prepare for it, and use MSPAP-related
              assessment tools.

_____2. We have developed and are implementing successfully an across-grade level and cross-disciplinary
              approach to the direct instruction of significant MSPAP-related thinking skills and processes.

_____3. Our school culture and climate actively encourage all students to be a successful part of a 
              learning community.

_____4. The entire staff understands and consistently addresses a well-articulated core curriculum consistent with
               MSPAP preparation.

_____5. Communication about the design and implications of MSPAP is a major part of our school improvement
               planning process.

_____6. We have a well-designed and consensus-driven process for integrating reading and writing competencies
           into all facets of our instructional delivery system.

_____7. All members of our school community work together to help us meet our MSPAP targets, as articulated in 
              our school improvement plan.

_____8. Our testing program is carefully coordinated and well designed to ensure that both formative and summative
               assessment related to students' MSPAP progress is operational.

_____9. Our school actively seeks parental and community involvement in our MSPAP preparation process.

_____10. We make effective and ongoing use of available human and material resources within our building, 
                cluster, and central office to ensure MSPAP success.
