Francis T. Evans Elementary School PTA

Mission:                                                                                 

The mission of the 2003-2004 Francis T. Evans Elementary School PTA is to improve and strengthen the relationship that parents have with teachers and staff, while broadening the educational opportunities and improving the school experience for our children.
 

2002-2003 Accomplishments:

During the previous school year, with 112 members, the Francis T. Evans Elementary PTA:

  • Coordinated parents and students who raised over $30,000 through various fundraisers
  • Sponsored and/or Coordinated various student activities – Winter Festival, Red Ribbon Week, End of Year Picnics, 5th Grade Promotion, and Patrol Camp for 2 students
  • Purchased all items for FTE’s new Television Broadcast Studio
  • Purchased 14 TV/VCR Combos for classrooms so each classroom has a television
  • Purchased “Principal Requested” Educational Supplements
  • Coordinated the donation of used computer systems from a community business, purchased software, and installed in Kindergarten classrooms
  • Provided students with snacks and juice on state testing days
  • Sponsored and coordinated various “Hospitality and Appreciation” Activities for Teachers, Staff and Volunteers
  • Grounds Beautification Project (landscaping and cleanup)
  • Raised over $1000.00 through the Funding Factory Program (recycling of empty printer cartridges and old cell phones)

 

2003-2004 Goals:

This school year, the Francis T. Evans Elementary PTA will work to:

  • Improve overall communication between PGCPS Leadership, FTE School Administration, and Parents
  • Further develop and maintain an email directory of parents, teachers and staff to better notify parents of upcoming PTA activities and school issues
  • Implement Issues and Resolution Procedures to better address Parent Concerns
  • Provide students and classrooms with “extra” activities and/or materials to improve their educational experience that would otherwise be unavailable due to school budget constraints
  • Promote parent participation and volunteerism in the school and/or their child’s class
  • Increase school pride among students, parents and staff
  • Increase PTA membership and participation to include the opinions and talents of more parents, teachers and staff in order to better represent the entire school population
  • Develop a positive relationship with business and community organizations, including AAFB
  • Improve and maintain the overall appearance of the school facility and grounds
  • Work to replace old playground equipment with more modern and safe play structures
