Dear Greenbelt Staff and Community,

As you probably already know, I have been appointed principal at Greenbelt Elementary School and feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with the faculty, students and community of Greenbelt.  For the past 14 years I have been an educator in Queen Anne’s and Prince George’s Counties.  My teaching experiences include: early childhood, special education, and Infants and Toddlers.  Also, I have been a teacher specialist at the elementary level where I modeled demonstration lessons and assisted with curriculum and instruction.  In addition, I have been an assistant principal for the past three years at Riverdale Elementary School.  I enjoy exercising, relaxing at the beach and spending time with family and friends.

Greenbelt has a lot to be proud of and I know together we will continue to build upon this success.  Our theme this year will be “Together Everyone Achieves More”.  We are a team at Greenbelt and can achieve much more when the staff, students, parents and community work together.  Prince George’s County Public Schools has five core operating beliefs and they include:  

·         Children ARE our business and THEY come first;

·         Parents are our partners;

·         Victory is in the classroom;

·         Continuous improvement in teaching, leadership and accountability is the key to our success; and

·         EVERY member of this community shares the responsibility for successful schools.

These will be the foundation as we move forward and continue with success.  In addition, we will build upon instructional teacher capacity in order to make a difference in the lives of each student who attends Greenbelt Elementary School and set HIGH expectations for all.

As a new member to the Greenbelt staff, I invite each staff member to stop by school on July 9th or 10th so that we can meet one another.  In addition, I have scheduled an evening Open House on August 9, 2007 at 6:30 in the multi-purpose room to introduce myself to the parents, community and staff.  At this time I will share my vision and goals for the 2007-2008 school year.

I am looking forward to working with you this year and know it will be a profitable school year.  Please take some time to relax over the summer.  I am eager to begin this school year on August 13, 2007.  If there is anything you need, please do not hesitate to ask.
