Parent Liaison
My Main Objective: To
create lasting and positive relationships among school staff,
parents, community members, businesses, and elected officials that
will support and elevate our children’s academic success.

Q: What does a School-Based
Parent Liaison do?
A:
The main roles of the Parent Liaison at G. James Gholson
Middle School are to:
-
Serve
as an advocate for parents and students;
-
Assist
school staff with creating a welcoming environment for parents;
-
Provide
and communicate training opportunities for parents that will
better equip them to assist their children;
-
Assist
parents with understanding and navigating the school system so
they can successfully advocate for their children;
-
Collaborate
as a member of the P-Team (Pupil Personnel
Worker, Professional School Counselor; Professional School
Nurse; Principal) to bring about the best results for students;
-
Refer
parents to, or provide parents with, resources that will assist
them with home life, school or recreational activities; and
-
Coordinate
volunteer opportunities.
Q: When can I meet with the Parent
Liaison?
A:
I’m here to serve you. I’m located in Room A-105, and you’re welcome
to visit me anytime. However, there may be times when I’m
participating in meetings or training opportunities away from the
building. Therefore, you may want to call before your visit. If you
cannot meet with me during regular school hours, feel free to set up
an appointment that is convenient for you – either evenings or

Q: Are conversations with the Parent
Liaison confidential?
A: Yes, all
conversations and correspondence is kept confidential until you give
me permission to share information with an appropriate individual
who may be able to further assist you.

Monthly Event: Students’
Speak Out Students discuss topics or issues that concern
them; facilitated by a student w/P-Team members in attendance.
This event takes place on the 1st Thursday of each month from
4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. Signed permission required for students to
attend.

Recognition Awards (w/Public Relations
Committee, P-Team & PTSA) 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. in the Media
Center.
