SAT School-Wide Initiative

     Through data received about our Gwynn Park students, it has been proven that scores on standardized tests are low because of vocabulary and reading levels. Because of this information, our “SAT Initiative” for the school year 2006 – 2007 is outlined as followed:  

§         “SAT Word of the Day” – Each day, a vocabulary word will be introduced via public announcement. It is encouraged that teachers include the word of the day in their lessons. (i.e. including the word as part of the warm-up, posting word on a “word wall, mini quizzes on the words, etc.) A school wide test (provided) will be given every two weeks. This test will be given 1^st period ONLY.  This begins today, October 3, 2006. 

§         SAT Board – In each classroom, teachers need to create a board or some kind of space for the placement of all SAT information (i.e. SAT test dates, websites, “SAT Word of the Day”, etc.) Information for this board will be provided.  Please have boards/space ready by Friday, October 13, 2006
