About Copyright Law
n
Copyright is protection
given to the "intellectual works"
of authors, artists, musicians.
n
You need permission to use someone
else's work.
n
It’s the law!
You cannot
Copy someone else's
work, give away
copies of someone else's work,
Perform someone
else's work- play, film, dance or music, etc.,
display
someone else's work in public, or create
“derivative works”- that means copying your work
into another media-example-to write a movie screenplay based
on someone else's story.

Non-tangible works:
Copyright Law protects non-tangible things—things that
you cannot “touch”--
such as your words. poems, stories, computer software,
games, music, illustrations or Art
or web pages

Works in the Public Domain can be
used without permission.
You must give credit to the author or artist.

Fair Use
allows you to use a small portion of copyrighted work,
usually for nonprofit or educational purposes. You cannot make money
using
a part of someone else's work. How much is a small portion?

How to Use Microsoft Front Page to Create a Web
Page:
Go to programs at the bottom right side of the screen to Front page or Office to
Front Page.
On the right, select "new page or web".
Choose "blank page".
Type your text or copy and paste text. Change fonts, underline, italacize,
justify to
right, left or center using the tool bar. Change the color of the front by
selecting the arrow
down next to the largest "A" on the tool bar.
To save your page (IMPORTANT)
Go to file--save as--type the name of
your page (no spaces between letters)
followed by .htm
To distinguish your page from another
student's, include your name and the country
when you name the page
For example, you may name your page:
juanhaiti.htm
Make sure to save your updated
page frequently.
To add clip art:
Move cursor to the spot on the page
where you want the graphic or image.
Select "insert" at the top of the
screen
Scroll down to picture and over to
"clip art"
Type your search term on the line
Click on the image--it will appear on
the page
Resize by dragging the arrows on the
corners
To move the image, Click until you
see a cross and drag with the mouse.
To link text or an image to a web site:
Type the word or insert the image you
want to link
Highlight the text or image
Select globe w/chain icon at the top
of the screen
Type the address you want to link to
on the line. Type the entire address--beginning with
http:
click "ok"
To check to see if you're
linked--hold shift key down while selecting image or text-
the page should appear.
To close the web, select the "x" on
the page.
