Warm-up:
Where do you think you can locate information on your topic? (fiction books?, non-fiction books?, encyclopedias?, reference books?, newspapers?, magazines?, Internet?, etc.)
Keywords
- Keywords are used to locate information in book indexes, online book catalogs, and Internet searches.
- A keyword is usually a noun that describes your topic.
- Avoid common words, like John and Smith, that might be used in many topic not related to your specific topic.
- Use a person’s last name as a keyword. If a person has a common last name, use the first and last name together as a keyword.
- Phrases that are commonly used to describe a topic, like “solar system” and “civil war”, would be used as one keyword.
Locating Information on Atronomy:
- Search the online book catalog for books on the topic.
