 parentGreetings!

The things they carry: Why are today's youth so angry?

As a community and parents, we must begin to ask ourselves some tough questions:

  • Why are our kids so angry?
  • What is causing them to resort to acts of violence against themselves and others?
  • Exactly who is listening to them and making them feel valuable and loved, if not us?
  • Are our children fighting the residual demons of our own pasts that we never dealt with?
  • Are we listening to their cry for help?

REFRESHMENTS

For now, the emotional baggage our young people are forced to carry will continue to be packed alongside or even instead of homework every day, but we can all make a difference - if we want to.

Perhaps

  • Eating meals at the table with our family.
  • Upgrading our library instead of our cable.
  • Taking the time to listen about another's day.
  • Restoring loving discipline at home.
  • Paying attention to the details.
  • Showing love instead of buying it.
  • Refusing to live vicariously through our children.
