In an effort to encourage individual students to work toward perfect attendance for a short period of time, eventually moving them toward a month at a time, the participants of the tenth annual team building workshop created the hms attendance bucks.
August 20 - 24 - we will prepare the children for the attendance bucks plan
August 27 - 31 - students who have perfect attendance for this one week will receive one attendance buck in homeroom on sept. 4
Sept. 4 - 14 - students who have perfect attendance for these two weeks will receive one attendance buck in homeroom on sept. 17
Sept. 17 - oct 5 - students who have perfect attendance for these three weeks will receive one attendance buck in homeroom on oct. 8
Oct. 8 - nov. 2 - students who have perfect attendance for these four weeks will receive one attendance buck in homeroom on nov. 5
Nov. 1 - 30 - students who have perfect attendance for the month of November will receive one attendance buck in homeroom on the first day of December.
December, January, February, march, april, may - students who have perfect attendance for the entire month will receive one attendance buck in homeroom on the first day of the subsequent month.
We
will still use our on-going attendance plan by homeroom:
If a homeroom achieves perfect attendance for five times in a month, all
students in the classroom will receive attendance bucks. Homerooms can
receive multiple "five times" in one month and students will
be rewarded for each with attendance bucks.
NOTE: Perfect attendance means no absences and no tardies. Homerooms with students on long term suspensions may still achieve perfect attendance if that person is the only one absent and if the homeroom teacher reminds ms. kemp.
HAWKEYES
Hawkeyes are given to students by teachers and administrators based on a set of criteria. The criteria is dervied from the character trait of the month. Students collect hawkeyes throughout the month and can redeem them for a list of prizes. An example of the Hawkeye program for the month of September is listed below.

HAWKEYES
will be awarded for demonstrating integrity.
Integrity means being honest, truthful and reliable.
- Being a "most reliable student."
- Answering the question of the day.
- Translating for the main office or guidance.
- Turning in Community Service hours on the proper form (1 for each hour turned in).
- Turning in lost item(s) to the Main Office or Health Room.
- Donating at least $3 and wearing denim for "Lee Denim Day" (3 for $3).
- "If Conflict Finds You, You Find The Nearest Adult!"
- Teacher's
freedom of choice.
(Any other portrayal of positive behaviors exhibiting integrity noted by a teacher.)
The students to whom HAWKEYES are awarded MUST hold them until the end
of the month. The HAWKEYES cannot be replaced, cannot be rescinded and
cannot be transferred. At the end of the month when they are redeemed,
the following will be awarded to students:

3 HAWKEYES 1 Jelly Bracelet or Lanyard

6 HAWKEYES 1 Jelly Bracelet or Lanyard and a HMS coupon.

10 HAWKEYES 1 Jelly Bracelet or Lanyard, a HMS coupon, and a HMS free Homework Pass.

15 HAWKEYES 1 Jelly Bracelet or Lanyard, a HMS coupon, a HMS free Homework Pass, and free entrance into the November Dance.

20 HAWKEYES 1 Jelly Bracelet or Lanyard, a HMS coupon, a HMS free Homework Pass, free entrance into the November Dance, and a certificate and a picture on the bulletin board.

30 HAWKEYES 1 Jelly Bracelet or Lanyard, a HMS coupon, a HMS free Homework Pass, free entrance into the November Dance, a certificate and a picture on the bulletin board, and a "Hawks Fly High" T-shirt.
HMS coupons
can be used for snacks in the cafeteria, at the afternoon snack table,
at the school store, and for money towards a dance or a field trip.
