James McHenry Elementary was built in 1963. We serve children in Head-Start through Sixth grade.  We are very proud of our strong instructional staff and the support staff who serve students, parents, and the local community on a daily basis.  Our Administrative staff is comprised of the Principal and the Assistant Principal.  They are supported by two secretaries and a school nurse.  Thirty Classroom Teachers provide instruction to our current enrollment of 599 students.  The instructional program is supported and enhanced by one Parent Liaison, one Reading Specialist, one Reading Recovery Teacher, three Special Education Resource Teachers and one Speech Therapist.  We also staff a full time Professional Guidance Counselor, a full time Testing Coordinator, a full time Math  Coordinator, a full time Media Specialist, a full time Technology Coordinator, three full time ESOL teachers, a Computer Lab Instructional Paraprofessional, one full time and one part time Vocal Music Teacher, one full time and one part time Physical Education Teacher, and an Instrumental Music Teacher.  Our school facility is managed by a full-time Building Supervisor and three assistants.  Our students are provided hot breakfasts and lunches daily by our Cafeteria Manager and staff.  These staff members, along with the support of our committed parent population, comprise the James McHenry Family.

Our school family maintains high expectations for all students and creates a positive and inviting school climate.  We do so by ensuring a safe and orderly environment, while monitoring the progress of students on a regular and continuous basis, and promoting effective home-school communications.
