| 1. Be a frequent visitor to your
child's class. After school is the the best time for conferences.
However, ask if there is a day you may observe your child in class. Call
and make an appointment ahead of time.
2. Ask your child's teacher if your child needs to improve in reading. If
the answer is yes, ask how you can help your child.
3. If you aren't getting answers to the above questions, ask for the
Guidance Counselor, Principal or Vice Principal to be present at a
conference with you and your child's teacher.
4. Get your child a library card, so he/she will always have a new book to
read.
5. Your child should read a book every night for at least 15 minutes.
Select books on your child's reading level. Ask the teacher if your not
sure what of your child's reading level.
