The National Association of
Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors
awards scholarships to
students who enroll in a full-time certificate or degree program with
a major directly related to the p-h-c profession at either a two-year,
four-year, or technical school or an apprenticeship program.

The BigSun Organization
is offering student
athletes a $500 scholarship. All student athletes are eligible
regardless of which sport they participate in. Applications are

Juniors Only: Applications are
being accepted for the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps
Scholarship for those students graduating in 2009. Students
selected for the program are awarded scholarships through a highly
competitive national selection process and receive full tuition and
other financial benefits at over 130 of the country’s leading colleges

Flow Ministries, Inc. is offering
a $1000 scholarship to a young woman graduating from Prince George’s
County Schools. Applicants must have at least a C+ average and clearly
demonstrate academic potential, leadership qualities, be active in
school and community based activities, and is college bound.
Applications must be submitted by May 30, 2008.
The Automotive Hall of Fame is
accepting applications for several scholarships for students who have a
sincere interest in an automotive related career. Applications are
available online at

The Ronald G. Williams, Jr. Foundation
will award a $1000 scholarship to a student who has at least a
2.5GPA and plans to major in criminal justice. An additional
scholarship, the Ron and Cora Lee Children of Law Enforcement
Officers, is available to students who have a parent/guardian that
is currently working for or retired from a law enforcement agency.

The Ameen F. Rihani Scholarship Program
valued at $1500 is accepting applications from students who are of
Lebanese or other Arab descent and have at least a 3.25 GPA. Students
must have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in
community service, extracurricular activities, or other activities.

Applications are being accepted for the
Elder Theodore L. Barber Scholarship Foundation, Inc. Students must
have at least a 2.5 GPA; submit two letters of recommendation and a
maximum 300-word essay. Applications are available in the career center
and must be submitted by May 31, 2008.
Making it Count will offer one
national $5000 scholarship and five regional $1000 scholarships to
seniors who have participated in the Making College and Career Count
presentation and who can exhibit excellence based on the “Winning

Mark Robbins, Dean of Syracuse U. School
of Architecture is seeking young men and women of color interested
in pursuing a five year professional degree in architecture. Scholarship
money has been set aside to fully cover the cost for ten students. For

Duke U. has announced that parents
whose incomes total $60,000 or less no longer have to contribute
financially to their child’s education. For families with incomes of
$40,000 or less student loans have been eliminated and loans have been
reduced for families with incomes up to $100,000. All merit scholarships
now provide full tuition, room, board, and fees.
The JBJ Livable Communities and
Education Research Foundation will award scholarships to seniors
based on financial need and scholastic ability. Applications are
available online at
www.jbjfoundation.org and must be submitted by June 1, 2008.
Earn $1000 a month while
still in high school. Enlist in the Army today and you could start
earning $1000 every month and a $1000 HS graduation bonus. Add the
money above to an enlistment bonus (up to $40,000) plus up to $73,836
for education through the Army College Fund and Montgomery GI Bill. For

The Thurgood Marshall
Scholarship Fund offers scholarships to students who have at least a
3.0 GPA, have a combined score of 1100 on the SAT, and who have been
accepted to a participating college or university. To be considered for
a scholarship, students must contact the participating school’s
scholarship coordinator and submit an application to them. More

Towson U. is
accepting applications for the CEEP (Community Enrichment and
Enhancement Partnership) Award which offers students $1000 to $4000
per year in scholarship funds. Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA
and have demonstrated leadership qualities and community involvement.

The Cosmetology
Program at Harmon’s Beauty School located in Landover, MD is
offering a partial tuition scholarship up to $2,000 based on merit,
need, and ethnicity. For additional information see Mrs.

Making It Count
will offer one national, $5000 and five regional, $1000 one-time award
scholarships to high school seniors who have participated in the Making
College and Career Count presentation between January 1-June 13, 2008
and who can exhibit excellence based on the “winning characteristics”

Certain students under
the age of 21 who have resided in a foster care home in Maryland and
plan to attend a Maryland public college or university are eligible for
the foster care tuition waiver. The waiver does not apply to room and

Kettering University
is offering more than $3 million in scholarship funds to students who are
interested in engineering, math and science, or technology related

The Army ROTC Four-year
Scholarship is available to all high school seniors. Students receive
full tuition and fees or room and board, a monthly stipend, and
$900 toward books. Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA, a minimum score
of 920 on the SAT or 19 on the ACT, meet physical standards, and agree to
accept a commission and serve in the Army on active duty or in a reserve

The Washington Area
Joint Apprenticeship Committee’s electrical apprenticeship program
is looking for those students with an aptitude for math and science.
Apprentices select a three or five year program and earn pay and benefits
while in class and during supervised on the job training. Apprentices can
earn from $41,000 to $73,000 per year. Information can be found online at
www.electricalalliance.org. Classes begin in July/August and
applications must be received by April 2008. Additionally,
contractors are always looking for truck drivers and warehouse workers as
well as various other positions.
The University of North
Carolina, Chapel Hill has announced a plan to expand the Carolina
Covenant, a program that enables low-income students to attend UNC
debt-free. Admitted students with a family income at or below 200 percent
of the federal poverty level can attend UNC if they work 10-12 hours a

Westminster College
is offering scholarship opportunities for students who have at least a 3.0
GPA. Students can receive up to $18,000 a year for the scholarship. To

The Christian Connector
provides a free Christian college information service as well as a $2500
Christian scholarship drawing. Students can log onto
www.christianconnector.com to request information and automatically be
entered in the scholarship drawing.
The College of New
Jersey is offering merit scholarships ranging from $1000 to $8000 to
out-of-state students. Eligible students must be in the top 15% of their
class and a have a combined critical reading and math SAT score of 1300 or

awarding one hundred $1000 scholarships throughout the 2007 school year.

Year Up is a program that allows graduates
ages 18-24 to earn 18 college credits and a weekly stipend, learn
technical and professional skills, and be placed in apprenticeships.
Over 90% of graduates are employed with salaries averaging above $35,000
per year. During the first half of the year students focus on technical
skill mastery in the area of help desk and desktop support and during
the second half students are placed in paid apprenticeships with local
partner companies. Classes begin in September and March. Applications
