Parent Liaison:  Placed in every school in Prince Georges County to help parents within the school system to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become unrelenting advocates that can also interface with appropriate county, community organization and school personnel to address the educational needs of their children.

 

·  You can request the Parent Liaison to be present at your school meetings, conferences, discipline issues, IEP, SST, etc.

 

·  All request need to be emailed to parent liaison so determination of availability can be confirmed. Maria.talbottsharpe@pgcps.org

 

·  All appointments with the parent liaison must be scheduled due to the large population of students.

 

Thurgood Marshall has a Parent Resource Room located in Room 100.  The hours of the resource room is Monday – Friday 9-1. 

 

Parent Liaison is here to do the following:

·        Work with Parents to help them demonstrate an improved understanding of school policies, procedures and educational requirements

·        Help foster families with the resources and educational opportunities to support the psycho-social and academic achievement of their children.

·        To help parents make sure all their children’s needs are being implemented within the school.

·        Bridge the gap between parents, community and school.

·        Help parents navigate thru the school system concerning the website to retrieve grades, homework, discipline, etc.

·        Help parents concerning parent/guardian during teacher conferences.

·        Keep parents informed on school progress and activities via Parent Newsletter (monthly).

March 12, 2008  Around the World of English w/students (7-8 pm)

 

April 30, 2008 – Exploring the World of Science w/students (7-8 pm)

 

May 31, 2008 – Community Day 10-2pm
