The purpose of the Medicaid Office is to generate funds to supplement the
cost of special education by billing Medicaid for allowable services. The
recovery cost of medically related services is billed for children who
meet Medicaid guidelines.
The Medicaid funds are used to
supplement health care services currently provided by the schools.
Health related services that are reimbursable from Medicaid are
identified in a student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or
Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP). These services include speech
pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, nursing, audiology,
social work, counseling and psychological services for screening,
evaluation, and treatment services. The school system is also allowed to
bill Medicaid for case management and transportation services for
Medicaid eligible students with IEPs. |
