Project Management Office: Functions and Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain the Project Management Office to support the management of major IT projects.
  • Create a foundation for consistent IT project success throughout the division, thereby reducing project cycle times and costs.
  • Develop a strong, pervasive Project Management discipline within the organization’s project teams.
  • Guide selected IT projects to a successful conclusion via project management, monitoring and/or mentoring.
  • Maintain project charters, status, and supporting documentation for IT projects.
  • Support the development, tracking, and reporting of Balanced Scorecard metrics within the division.
  • Apply project portfolio management (PPM) methodologies to facilitate the selection of IT projects which best support strategic objectives and best utilize available resources.
  • Develop and implement change management strategies which communicate and facilitate technological advances in the school district
  • Serve as a center-of-excellence, providing project management consultation and training.
  • Promote timely and accurate communication and knowledge transfer between IT and organizational stakeholders.
