The “No Child Left Behind” (NCLB) Act of 2001, signed into law on January 8, 2002, calls for sweeping changes in public education.  Among these is a new federal requirement that all states and school districts receiving Title 1 funding issue an annual “School Report Card” to parents.  This Maryland Report Card issued by the Maryland State Department of Education provides accountability data for the State, Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS), and for each of the schools in PGCPS.  This particular document includes results from the Maryland School Assessment (MSA) and information about the adequate yearly progress measures required by State and federal laws.  Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) is the benchmark used to measure school progress toward the established goal of 100% of students achieving proficiency in Reading and Mathematics by 2014.
