Panorama Elementary Physical Education

Dear Parents and Guardians of Panorama Elementary students,

Students in Physical Education class will be exposed to a wide range of activities during the school year. They will be taught in units emphasizing skill development, lead up games, and full participation games. All of the sports and activities will be taught developmentally for each grade level. There will also be a county wide curriculum that will support MSA science tests for grades 3 – 5. It is our goal at Panorama to provide students at Panorama with a quality P.E. program. In order to do this, we need help from parents so that our students can be successful.

Please review the following policies with your child:

Proper attire is needed to participate

- Girls: No hoop earrings and always wear shorts under skirts.
- Everyone should have *appropriate physical activity shoes* for P.E.
- If you are unsure what is appropriate please call the school.
- If a student comes unprepared for class they WILL receive a ‘0’ for that day.

Behavior

- Only 3 warnings will be given and the warnings will be taken note of. Each warning will result in a 1/3rd deduction in participation points. (Severity of behavior may require a student to be removed from class activities immediately for safety reasons. Safety of the class comes first!)
- Calls will be made home when necessary.

Ill or Injury

Parents please send a signed note explaining the nature of the medical condition and indicate whether the child should be completely exempt or allowed limited participation in P.E. If the illness or injury exceeds 1 DAY, please bring in a signed note from a doctor.

Grading

Grading will be assessed using the following areas: participation, tests, and task sheets or in-class work.
For your child’s first grade in P.E. you will need to have reviewed and discussed the above items. In order to receive full credit, the information below MUST be filled out and signed at the bottom by a parent or guardian.
Thank you for continued help in supporting your child. As always feel free to contact the P.E. office at anytime!
