Mission Statement

The mission of Riverdale Elementary School is to promote a
risk-free environment that will nurture, shape, enrich and develop young
minds to achieve their highest level of academic performance. We
strive to empower students to be productive citizens and to foster success,
respect, and appreciation of cultural diversity. We will involve
parents, community, and staff in working towards a common goal for creating
a love for life-long learning.

Student Population

We have approximately 586 students in grades K - 6.
Our population is quite diverse as it reflects 30 countries.

Activities
|
Activities at Riverdale Elementary include the following:
-An after school Math tutoring program on Mondays and Thursdays.-An after
school Reading tutoring program on Mondays and Thursdays.

Community Partnerships
|
We have a partnership with the National Center for Health
Statistics, Subway, The University of Maryland Employees, and the Riverdale
Park Police Department.

Awards and Recognition
|
Riverdale has earned the following awards and recognition.
-A monetary award from the Maryland State Department of Education for School
Performance on MSPAP, November 2002.
-2000 Recognition Award from the State Department of Education for
Improvement in MSPAP scores.
-A monetary award from the PGCPS Board of Education for improvement in 2000
MSPAP Scores.
