In first grade our primary goal is to learn reading strategies that will develop our reading skills and fluency and enable us to become excellent lifelong readers.  In addition to developing our reading skills and our love of reading, we aim to gain basic mathematics skills that range from counting numbers, to telling time, to fractions, to geometry, and to probability.

We also develop and broaden our horizons through the study of geography, American History, Citizenship Skills and Social Skills in our Social Studies Curriculum.  Our Science Curriculum allows us to learn about the world around us through the use of hand-on experiments as well as abstract, higher order thinking activities.

First grade is an essential and formative year.  Although it is a critical year for our development as learners, it is also filled with fun and new experiences.
