In Pre-K a close relationship between parents and
teachers is extremely important to your child’s progress. Please notify
Mrs. McKinley if you have an urgent or pending question concerning your
child. You may leave a message with the office or send in a note that
expresses your concerns. Mrs. McKinley will respond back to you as
quickly as possible. We have listed some information below which we
feel is essential in helping you and your child become familiar with
Pre-K here at Robert Frost.
Supplies:
One box of tissue
One ream of copy paper
Back pack
One jar of liquid soap (antibacterial)
One pocket folder
Dress:
Your child is to wear the correct school uniform daily. If there is to be any special dress, you will be notified.
Black tennis shoes are helpful on P. E. days.
Personal Belongings:
As it upsets children to lose their belongings, please help by labeling
each article. Self-care will also be emphasized at school. Please help
your child to learn to zip, button, tie, and put on his/her own
clothing. Since bathroom accidents do happen, please send in a change
of underwear and pants (to be kept in the classroom) labeled with
your child’s name.
Birthdays:
In order to maximize instruction time, we ask that birthdays not
be celebrated with a party at school. Your child’s birthday will be
acknowledged by his or her name being called during morning
announcements, and by wearing a birthday ribbon all day.
Volunteers:
We would like to invite you to help
us this year. This will involve chaperoning field trips, special
projects, assistance in the classroom, and assisting at holiday
parties. If you can help, please let Mrs. McKinley know. We will
inform you as far in advance as possible.
Classroom Behavior:
Please remind your child that
school is a place to learn. In order to learn, the children must listen
and follow directions at all times.
Safety:
To ensure the safety of our children, all parents and visitors
must stop by the office for a visitor’s badge before coming to the
classroom. Please notify the school in writing if there is a change in
how your child is to be dismissed. If no written note is sent to the
school, your child will be dismissed via his or her usual route.
Toys/Money:
Please do not allow your child to bring toys or money to school unless
requested by the teacher. If your child is bringing lunch money or
money for another reason, please enclose it in a sealed envelope labeled
with your child’s name. You should also include your child’s teacher’s
name as well as the purpose for the money.
Take-Home Folders:
Folders with your child’s work will be sent home every night.
Please monitor book bags each night to ensure notes from us or the
school are received in a timely manner.
Report Cards/Conferences:
Report Cards in Pre-K are sent
out twice per year. Conference letters will be sent home at specific
times during the school year.
Below you will find a list of useful articles that offer wonderful ideas
about reading and working with your children and helping them become
even more successful in school.
