Welcome to the Third Grade page!

Ms. Carroll - Transition Program

In third grade our main focus in reading is the use of the five strategies: Predict/Infer, Monitor/Clarify, Question, Summarize, and Evaluate.  One of these strategies is used on a weekly basis throughout the year along with a weekly comprehension skill. As your child reads nightly, he/she should practice using these strategies.

In math, we strive to accommodate all learning styles by incorporating the use of manipulatives, technology, pair-tutoring, and flexible grouping. Parents should work with their child to complete nightly homework.

This is the first year your child will be taking the Maryland State Assessment (MSA) Test. It is essential that parents review and offer extended practice beyond homework time.

With the support of our parents, we are sure to have a successful year!
