COURSE OFFERINGS High School ENGLISH ELEMENTS OF LITERATURE - This course builds on students abilities in reading, writing, listening, and speaking through exploration of the guiding ideas or themes in a variety of literature. ENGLISH GRAMMAR AND COMPOSITION - This semester course is designed for students to learn the fundamentals of grammar and composition in the English language. Emphasis will be placed on writing and listening/speaking skills. AMERICAN LITERATURE - This course builds on student's abilities in reading, writing, listening, and speaking through exploration of the guiding ideas or themes in a variety of literature. ENGLISH 12 - This course is designed for students to learn the fundamentals of grammar and composition in the English language. Emphasis will be placed on creative writing and listening/speaking skills. In addition, a review of literature will be a primary focus. MATH PAC MATH ALGEBRA 1 - This course is designed for students to learn the fundamentals of mathematics. The following basic skills will be addressed: 1. Compute accurately using whole numbers, integers, fractions, decimals, percent, ratio, and proportion, exponents, and rational numbers 2. Use data analysis, modeling, and functions to translate and solve word problems 3. Graph and solve equations and inequalities with one and two variables 4. Work with polynomials and factors to solve quadratic and radical equations. GEOMETRY - This course is designed for students to learn the fundamentals of Geometry performing the following: 1. Use inductive reasoning to observe patterns, make generalizations and define geometric figures and terms 2. Make conjectures about lines, angles, circles, and various polygons 3. Translate and solve word problems 4. Use deductive reasoning to prove earlier conjectures. INTEGRATED MATH - This course is designed for students who have completed Algebra 1 and Geometry. Skills will be strengthened in problem solving and critical thinking, equations and inequalities, and graphs, functions and linear systems. SCIENCE Active Physics Biology - To provide students with the general scientific principles that explain how living things function, develop, and interact with the environment. Instruction is designed to promote student discover, involvement in and appreciation of scientific methods, and to develop skill in using the equipment and instruments through laboratory experiences. SOCIAL STUDIES U.S. History World History HEALTH Health Issues - This semester course deals with the basic principles of physical, mental, social, and emotional health. Middle School Science Interactions Grades 6, 7, and 8 - Focus is on Life Science, Physical Science, and Environmental Science. Mathematics - Enables students to learn the value of mathematics, problem-solve and use reasoning skills. Social Studies - An examination by the student of the world close to them and an exploration of the Western hemisphere outside of the United States. English - Focus is on fundamental reading and writing skills.
