Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents

RICA-Southern Maryland is a coeducational multidisciplinary program for middle and high school adolescents with emotional problems. A family oriented community-based program, RICA focuses on the strengths and abilities of adolescents and their families. Serving adolescents from Calvert, Charles, Prince George's and St. Mary's Counties, RICA helps them solve whatever difficulties have existed at home, in school, or in their communities. There are no out of pocket expenses to those who attend the program.

    Multi-disciplinary Approach

RICA's history of success is the result of its skilled multidisciplinary staff which works together to provide the best possible services for each adolescent.  The staff consists of:

    • social workers, nurse therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists in the clinical program
    • special education teachers and instructional assistants in the educational program
    • nurses, counselors, and therapeutic recreation staff in the residential program
    • a pediatrician and registered nurses in the health suite
