The mission of the Student Affairs/Safe & Drug-Free Schools Office is
to ensure that all students acquire the knowledge and develop the skills
that will assist them in living safe and responsible lives and to become
productive members of society. This mission is best accomplished
when there is effective collaboration among students, school personnel,
parents, county agencies and community organizations.
This office plans and
implements a comprehensive, sequential substance abuse
prevention curriculum from pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12.
They work with the community regarding violence and drug
problems and provide training regarding drugs and violence. This
office monitors school policy on the use, possession, and
distribution of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. They assess
the severity of students’ alcohol and drug involvement and refer
to counseling and treatment, as needed. This office also
collaborates with State, Regional, and County agencies regarding
